My past three cars have been Subarus. Ive had 1999 2.5RS, an 03 legacy L, and now I have a BRZ aand I'm looking to add an 03 outback to that list. I still own my 99 RS but its in the middle of a STi swap after the crankshaft got damaged from a botched repair. anyhow here is a picture of my RS before the swap
And my DD BRZ

There are worse addictions. Gotta admit, aside from the node heavy nature and the midget farting contest exhaust, there is little to dislike about a good subi.

oh! I like the black lines on your RS, nicely accentuates the shape

Not bad.
I also have two subarus, but having a hard time finding one to replace the daily driver.
BTW... for a little while now, I have wanted to see someone take a GC Impreza coupe, and a GC 5-door, and meld them together.
Two side doors, with both coupe quarter windows behind the doors, and 5-door rear quarter windows and hatch on the back, with the hatch's long roof.
Add to that a Forester or Outback suspension lift with some meaty rally tires, and a WRX STI drivetrain...
It would be the ultimate all-road practical yet fast shooting brake.

They were put on by the previous owner, but they started to fade about a year after I got the car, so i need to redo them.

fading sounds awful! you should just get rid of the car!

Probably one of the best RSes I've ever seen. Nice! Glad you didn't try to make it a 22B clone like everyone else.

I'm going to be raising the suspension on the RS for rally, There's a company in Bend OR that does Swaps for Subarus as well as rally conversions that makes their own custom setups for them.

Nothing could get me to sell that car. I've been considering getting it repainted in world rally blue but I have to finish the swap first.

Sweet! :)
Tho, i haz a sad.
Subaru is one of my, if not the favorite manufacturers. But in my whole country, in total there is ONE dealership, two guys who know how to work on them properly.
And people don't maintain them at all, so when something goes wrong it ends up for sale. For a waaaaaaay too high price.
Example:
Impreza Wagon, 1996, 250k kilometers on clock, 2.0 NA, not registred. No optionals what so ever, dented in every corner, poorly fixed fender. On rusted out steelies with tires that could only be good for gardening.
Price: 1500 euros. Worth maybe 500.
And that's the cheapest one, don't let me get started on a first gen legacy with 360k kms for a great price of 1600 euros. I live in a land of assholes.

That's awful, and Subarus are not that hard to maintain, I've done 90% of the work on mine myself. You just have to be careful with the older EJ25 NA engines, because the were prone to head gasket failure.

I have a BRZ and am thinking of adding a 2.5RS as a DD for my gf and future Sti swap. Any advice on buying one from your experience? Any reason I shouldn't buy one?

I do too, and their cars always let me down, but I keep buying them anyway.

The only issues I had with mine were the timing belt and head gaskets, and both are pretty easy fixes. to do the timing belt you may need to remove the radiator to get enough clearance to remove the cover. for the head gaskets just loosen the mount bolts on the engine and jack one side up to get access to the head. its probably best to do both the gaskets and the timing belt at the same time because you have to take the belt off anyways. also make sure to use Subaru's blue coolant the normal stuff can eat through the head gaskets faster. Other than that the car is built like a tank not much else will go wrong with them.

I really like those 2.5RSes. Perhaps I can own one someday, but for now my '98 Legacy Outback is still running strong at 217,000 miles.
Are those stock RS wheels?

Yeah I also kept the wheels from my 03 legacy that look kinda like BBS's. My Rs wheels have studded tires on them now and my legacy ones are my summer tires.
